Airoli–Katai Freeway Project Latest Update 2026 | Full Details, Budget, Route & Tunnel 🚧 Welcome to Sideviewmirrorr! In today's video, we bring you a detailed update on one of the important infrastructure projects in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region — the Airoli–Katai Naka Elevated Road Project. This project aims to improve road connectivity between Airoli, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Mumbra, Dombivli and Kalyan. It is expected to reduce travel time, ease traffic congestion and provide smoother connectivity for daily commuters. 🚧 Airoli–Katai Freeway Project: Key Details 📍 Project Name: Airoli–Katai Naka Elevated Road Project 🏗️ Project Authority: Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) 🛣️ Total Length: Approximately 12.71 km 🚘 Road Configuration: Six lanes (3+3 lanes) ⛰️ Major Highlight: Twin tunnels beneath Parsik Hill 📅 Phase 1 & Phase 2: Reported target for opening by the end of October 2026 📅 Phase 3 Target: October 2028 ⏱️ Expected Travel Time Savings: Approximately 35–40 minutes, depending on the route and traffic conditions. Note: These details are based on reported project information and targets. Actual opening dates and travel-time savings may vary. 🛣️ Three Phases of the Airoli–Katai Project Phase 1: Thane–Belapur Road to NH-4 This section is approximately 3.43 km long and includes twin tunnels beneath Parsik Hill, along with elevated road sections. The tunnel section is approximately 1.69 km long. It is expected to improve connectivity around Mumbra, Mahape and Shilphata. Phase 2: Airoli to Thane–Belapur Road This section is approximately 2.57 km long. It will connect the Airoli end of the Mulund–Airoli Creek Bridge with Thane–Belapur Road, providing improved access to the new corridor. Phase 3: NH-4 to Katai Naka This section is approximately 6.71 km long. It includes elevated roads, a railway overbridge, entry and exit ramps, and service roads. The reported completion target is October 2028. Once all three phases are operational, commuters will benefit from improved connectivity along the Airoli–Katai Naka corridor. 💰 Airoli–Katai Freeway Project Budget The cost varies across the different phases and construction components. Phase 1: Approximately ₹237.55 crore for the relevant tunnel and road works. Phase 2: Approximately ₹275.90 crore for the elevated road works. These figures relate to specific project sections and should not be treated as the total budget for the entire corridor. The latest approved overall project cost should be verified through official MMRDA updates. 🚦 Major Benefits of the Project ✅ Better connectivity between Airoli and Navi Mumbai. ✅ Improved road access for commuters travelling between Thane, Dombivli and Kalyan. ✅ Potential reduction in traffic congestion around Mumbra, Shilphata, Mahape and Kalyan Phata. ✅ Twin tunnels beneath Parsik Hill to provide a more direct route. ✅ Potential savings in travel time and fuel for daily commuters. ✅ Improved connectivity for office workers, businesses and transport vehicles. 📍 Will the Airoli–Katai Freeway Connect Directly to Panvel? The main objective of this project is to improve connectivity between Airoli and Katai Naka. It is not a separate freeway running directly to Panvel. However, commuters may use the existing road network to continue towards Navi Mumbai and Panvel. 🏍️ Watch the Full Video In this video, we explore the Airoli–Katai Freeway Project, its route, tunnel construction, different phases, estimated budget and expected benefits for commuters across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
