What if the world as we know it is not being abandoned, but restored? That question sits at the heart of one of the most hopeful truths in all of Scripture. We often picture the end of the story as an escape from a broken world, but the Bible tells a different story entirely. From Isaiah 65, written 800 years before the book of Revelation, to John's sweeping vision in Revelation 21 and 22, the consistent message is this: God does not throw away His masterpiece. He redeems it. Just as a botched restoration of a centuries-old painting unexpectedly brought life and economic renewal to a small Spanish town, God takes what sin has broken and transforms it into something that draws all things to Himself. Romans 8 reminds us that all of creation groans together, waiting eagerly for liberation from decay. We are not waiting to become disembodied spirits floating in an abstract heaven. We are waiting for the redemption of our bodies and the renewal of all creation. The spiritual lesson here is profound: God's plan has always been restoration, not abandonment. And that plan includes us, fully and physically, in a renewed world where He chooses to dwell among His people forever.
