Baloch Nationalism in Sindh.Story of Baloch arrival and rule in Sindh & maintaining Baloch Identity

Baloch is one the largest ethnic groups in Sindh and some Baloch nationalists claim to be the single largest ethnic group of Sindh. They migrated from present day Iranian and Pakistani Balochistan to Sindh in the medieval era. With the passage of time, Talpur Baloch became the masters of Sindh until their defeat in the Battle of Miani in 1843. After the Partition of Indian Sub-Continent, a large number of Urdu speaking Muslims from northern India settled in Sindh and Sindhi nationalist felt threatened to be reduce to a minority. They made alliance with Balochs of Sindh to counter Urdu speaking majority. Hence Sindhi nationalists insisted Balochs to write Sindhi as their mother tongue in the census and now the figure of the census suggests that Balochi is merely spoken by 2.17 percent of the Sindh's population. Baloch nationalists led mostly by youth are demanding that Sindhi nationalists should now respect Baloch national identity in Sindh and insist Balochs to preserve their identity by identifying themselves as Balochs in the census.
