Prevention Starts with Opportunity: UYDEL’s youth engagement and crime prevention mechanisms

When a young person has no access to education, no job and little support, the streets can become an easy path into crime. Uganda Youth Development Link (UYDEL) works to change that reality by providing vulnerable young people with counselling, vocational skills and opportunities to rebuild their lives. Crime prevention is not the responsibility of law enforcement alone. Civil society organisations are an important part of Uganda’s JLOS chain-linked approach, helping address the vulnerabilities that can lead to crime and giving young people a chance to choose a different path.
