Koko Shimizu: Japan's Tragic Loss of a Daughter

On the 3rd of March, 3-year-old Koko Shimizu had spent the day creating “Hina Matsuri” dolls at school, after which she and one of her brothers joined their parents on a trip to a nearby supermarket in the south western Japanese city of Kumamoto. While shopping, Koko asked her father Seiichiro if she could go to the bathroom. Despite the father’s wish for her to wait until they finished paying at the register, the young girl proceeded to skip towards the toilet by herself. Not long after, Seiichiro quickly followed his daughter and started calling her name, but Koko seemed to have vanished without a trace. After a search of the store with the help from store employees, the police was notified and started to unravel the mystery of what had happened with the young girl.
