Recovery, renewal, resilience and volunteering during COVID-19 | ESRC Celebrating Impact Prize 2023

Responding to and recovering from emergencies such as the COVID-19 pandemic not only requires official government action but increasingly involves networks of local-community volunteers. In this film, learn how research has identified the value of these volunteers and shaped guidance on how they can be mobilised. This research, led by Duncan Shaw, Professor of Operational Research and Critical Systems at the University of Manchester, was shortlisted for the ESRC Celebrating Impact Prize 2023. The Prize, now in its 11th year, is an annual opportunity to recognise the success of ESRC-funded researchers in achieving and enabling outstanding economic or societal impact from their research.
