Grizedale forest, Parka Moor, Nibthwaite, Blawith bridleways to Torver & Walna Scar emtb 19-04-2026

A seriously fun XC e-MTB adventure out of Windermere that just kept delivering from start to finish… Straight off the ferry, we got to work climbing up into Grizedale Forest, weaving our way through the trees and pushing on toward Moor Top. From there, we broke out of the forest and crossed open ground past the Park and the iconic Cottage in the Clouds—setting the tone for what was coming next. Then came the reward: the absolutely brilliant descent off Parkamoor, ripping all the way down toward Nibthwaite. Fast, flowing, and grin-inducing the whole way. A short stretch on the road took us through Water Yeat and on to Blawith, where things got even better—quiet, sublime bridleways that felt like hidden gems, we even encountered a sheep jam on the trail, eventually we linked back to the road near Torver. Naturally, a quick refuel stop at Torver Deli for a proper pie was non-negotiable… and well earned. Back on the bikes, we tackled the steady climb up Walna Scar Road before cruising down into Coniston—nothing too technical, just a long, satisfying descent to spin the legs. After rolling through a haze of e-cigarette clouds in Coniston, we dug in again for the climb up to Lane Head bridleway, grinding our way back toward Moor Top. By this point, my legs were definitely reminding me about yesterday’s ride! But the finale made it all worthwhile—dropping into my absolute favourite descent, The Fox down to Esthwaite. Fast, fun, and ridden with care around other trail users, it was the perfect way to wrap things up. An epic day out with Chris, packed with variety, views, and brilliant riding.
