What you need to know about working during studies + tips on how to find a job as an international student. 👉 Working while studying: Part-time job As an international student, you are allowed to have a part-time job beside your study. For EU/EEA students there are no restrictions, but if you are a NON-EU student you need to meet the following requirements: You are allowed to work a maximum of 16 hours a week during the whole year or, instead, to work full-time during the Summer period (June, July and August). You must have a valid residence permit You must have a BSN. A BSN is equivalent to a social security number: a unique registration number for every citizen, used in contracts with every government service. Proof of registration as a student (student card or registration letter) Work permit 👉 Basic Health Insurance Be aware that as soon as you start working you need to have a basic health insurance. This counts for EU/EEA as well as for non-EU students. If you do not take a basic health insurance you risk a fine. You do not need a basic health insurance in case you start with an internship. Only in case you earn more than the minimum wage during your internship you must have a basic health insurance.
