Dark Was The Night at STEVEN HARVEY FINE ART PROJECTS

James Kalm, despite the continuing Covid-19 pandemic and lock-down, continues to comb the highways and byways of New York city looking for cultural manifestations. Stopping in at Tompkins Square Park, he switches on the camera to catch a freelance experimental dance performance with musical accompaniment. Then it’s on to “Dark Was the Night”, an intimate group show at Steven Harvey. This show presents some surprising works which explore not only the darker shades of color, but somber tones of mood and includes examples by two of the “Three Musketeers” of early New York School fame, John Graham, and Arshile Gorky (the third being Stuart Davis). Also presented are works by: Paul Resika, David Wojnarowicz, Zoe Leonard, Jack Goldstein, Tony Smith et.al. This program was recorded August 15, 2020.
