CSEH Valentin: A Mohácshoz kapcsolódó emlékhelyek – Az emlékezettörténet jelentősége Historical places linked to Mohács – The Example of Collective Memory Mohács elsődleges és másodlagos emlékhelyei 2026-ban lesz 500 éve annak, hogy Szulejmán szultán hadserege megsemmisítő vereséget mért a II. Lajos király vezette magyar hadseregre, ezzel véget vetve a középkori Magyar Királyság történetének. A félezer éves jubileum kiváló alkalom arra, hogy végiggondoljuk mit is jelent hazánk történetében az Oszmán Birodalommal a XIV. század második felétől a XVIII. század végéig vívott négy évszázadot felölelő háborúk sorozata. A Nemzeti Örökség Intézete számára 2024 óta készül egy adatbázis, amely egyfajta online térképes lexikonként ismerteti azokat a török-magyar háborúk szempontjából releváns helyszíneket, amelyek egyrészt az 1526-os hadiévvel kapcsolatosak, másrészt fontos csatahelyei vagy végvárai voltak a törökökkel vívott háborúknak. Előadásomban az oszmán-magyar háborúkban fontos szerepet betöltő történelmi helyekkel ismerkedhetnek meg a rendelkezésre álló időkeretet felhasználva. Ugyanakkor nemcsak a helyszínekkel, hanem azokkal az ottani emlékekkel, emlékhelyekkel is, amelyek megörökítik a múltban lezajlott egykori csaták stb. emlékét. Ugyanis a cél az adatbázissal nemcsak az emlékezés, hanem az utókor emlékeztetése is eleink küzdelmére. Primary and secondary memorial sites in Mohács In 2026, it will be 500 years since Sultan Suleiman’s army inflicted a crushing defeat on the Hungarian army led by King Louis II, thus ending the history of the medieval Kingdom of Hungary. The 500th anniversary is an excellent opportunity to reflect on the significance of the Ottoman Empire in the history of our country from the second half of the 14th century to the end of the 18th century. Since 2024, the National Heritage Institute has been compiling a database that serves as a kind of online map encyclopedia, describing locations relevant to the Turkish-Hungarian wars that are connected to the military campaign of 1526 on the one hand, and on the other hand, were important battlefields or border forts in the wars against the Turks. In my presentation, you will learn about the historical sites that played an important role in the Ottoman-Hungarian wars, using the time available. At the same time, I will not only discuss the locations, but also the memories and memorials that commemorate the battles and other events that took place there in the past. The aim of the database is not only to preserve our memories, but also to remind future generations of our struggles.
