Is Freelancing Dead in 2026? The Truth About AI, Clients & Making Money

AI has changed freelancing in a way that would have been difficult to imagine a few years ago. From designing websites and writing content to development, marketing, and other creative work, AI can now handle a huge amount of what freelancers used to charge for. But does that actually mean freelancing is dying? In this video, I share my honest perspective as a freelancer and UI/UX designer who has experienced these changes firsthand. I talk about how AI is changing the relationship between freelancers and clients, how client expectations are changing, what has become harder, and where freelancers can still create real value. I'll also talk about the less glamorous side of freelancing: finding clients, building trust, dealing with inconsistent work, competition, and the pressure of building your own career. My goal isn't to tell you that AI will either destroy freelancing or magically make everything better. I want to explore what freelancing actually looks like in 2026 and what freelancers may need to do differently to stay relevant.
