MOOD LIFTERS performs RUSH’s "Xanadu" — originally featured on 1977’s "A Farewell to Kings". A sprawling, 11-minute progressive rock masterpiece inspired by Samuel Taylor Coleridge's poem "Kubla Khan," this epic features atmospheric tubular bells, intricate double-neck guitar and bass work, and dramatic shifts in time and dynamic intensity. Playing right above the pier in the ocean air before a spectacular glowing sunset, the band brought stadium-sized energy to an enthusiastic crowd of Rush fans. Kicking off the first set with the fast intro riff of "The Spirit of Radio," they took us on a high-octane tour through favorites like "Freewill" and the instrumental tour de force "YYZ." After a brief intermission and raffle hosted by the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce, the band came back swinging for Set 2, delivering heavy classics like "Working Man," the sprawling, magical epic "Xanadu," and a massive "Tom Sawyer" finale.
