JESU DIRAI NYASHA What did our parents leave us? Our parents often serve as the glue that holds a family together. They teach us to love, support one another, forgive, and remember God. But when they are gone, families can sometimes drift apart. Misunderstandings become divisions. Jealousy grows. Money and property become sources of conflict. Brothers stop speaking to brothers, sisters become strangers, and the unity our parents worked so hard to build begins to disappear. “Jesu Dirai Nyasha” is a prayer for healing, reconciliation and restoration. It reminds us that our parents leave us with more than houses, land, money or possessions. They leave us a legacy of love, unity, forgiveness and faith in God. And another generation is watching us—our children. What we leave them through the way we treat one another becomes part of their inheritance. So we pray: Jesu, dirai nyasha. Give our families grace. Teach us to love again. Teach us to forgive. Teach us to help one another. Teach us to celebrate one another’s victories. Teach us to lift each other when one of us falls. One day our children may ask: “Vabereki vedu vakatisiirei?” What did our parents leave us? May the answer be: They left us love. They left us unity. They left us forgiveness. They left us faith in God. Not hatred. Not jealousy. Not division. Love. Unity. Forgiveness. Faith. May we return to the values our parents taught us and protect the legacy they worked so hard to build.
