How Shill-art Makeup Created a Human Tree Look for Karakta Featuring Sanyu's Catherine Namugenyi

Shill-art Makeup’s Shillat took creativity to another level at the Karakta Press Launch, unveiling a breathtaking “human tree” character named Kula. Using soft bark, sea moss, and an assortment of natural materials, she transformed actress Catherine Namugenyi—known for her lead role in Sanyu—into a living sculpture. The look was completed by Artsy Sofiya, who styled Catherine’s hair into a lush bouquet of greenery, perfectly bringing the character to life. This striking presentation was part of the build-up to the Karakta Festival, set for May 24–25 at the Kampala Serena Hotel. The festival will showcase Uganda’s finest talent in film makeup, costume, and hair design. During the press launch, industry heavyweights like Loukman Ali, Nanna Kagga, Esther Nakazibwe, Ras Kasozi, and Tazibone Solomon shared insights on the importance of bold and imaginative character creation in storytelling.
