♦The Swahili present tense -na-♦
The present tense in Swahili is represented by the prefix-na- which is conjugated with the pronoun prefix and a verb to form a complete sentence.
♦The pronoun prefixes are as follows:
1. Mimi [-ni-] =I/Me
2. Wewe[-u-] =You
3. Yeye[-a-]=Him/her
4. Sisi[-tu-]= We
5. Nyinyi[-m-] =You all
6. Wao[-wa-]=They
♦Let’s try to conjugate with some verbs
★Kuandika (to write)★[Note that the ku-willl disappear during conjugation except for monosyllabic verbs]
[Pronoun prefix+ present tense prefix +verb]
1. Mimi ninaandika= I am writing.
2. Wewe unaandika=You are writing.
3.Yeye anaandika=He/she is writing.
4.Sisi tunaandika=We are writing.
5.Nyinyi mnaandika=You all are writing.
6.Wao wanaandika= They are writing.
For NEGATION {I did not mention in the video}
Negation of the above sentences will be as follows:
1a. Mimi ninaandika(I am writing).
1b. Mimi Siandiki( I am not writing).
2a. Wewe unaandika(You are writing).
2b. Wewe huandiki (You are not writing)
3a. Yeye anaandika(He/she is writing).
3b. Yeye haandiki (He/She is not writing)
4a. Sisi tunaandika (We are writing)
4b. Sisi hatuandiki( We are not writing)
5a. Nyinyi mnaandika (You all are writing).
5b. Nyinyi hamuandiki (You all are not writing)
6a. Wao wanaandika (They are writing)
6b. Wao hawaandiki (They are not writing)
