Concerns over erosion of cultural values

Traditional leaders in the North West have raised deep concerns over the erosion of cultural values. They warn that a growing number of young people are abandoning their heritage in favour of Western lifestyles. The traditional authorities voiced their anxieties during the celebration of Batlharo Boo Tokwana Ba Ga Masibi in Disaneng near Mahikeng, over the weekend. The event marked 30 years of leadership by Kgosi Selabi Mogakolodi Masibi in conclusion of Heritage Month. According to the leaders, the accelerating adoption of foreign customs, modern ways, and alien values is creating a dangerous generational disconnect. They cautioned that this shift risks completely severing the younger generation from its foundational cultural roots.
