This is the ninth piece from the suite "Iberia" by Albeniz. It is exuberantly chaotic, and completely defeated my enthusiastic efforts decades ago! Apparently, the orgiastic clangour of ‘Lavapiés’ made Olivier Messiaen exclaim: ‘Albéniz – il est parmi les étoiles!’
It is the most difficult piece of the suite and most performances fall a bit short in technical mastery, interpretation, or comprehensibility. Pages 2-4 are the worst in this respect. Of course the computer is irreproachable in technical mastery, and I have attempted to add hidden dynamics and tempo indications to make a reasonable performance.
I have made a small number corrections and editorial changes, these are either shown in brackets, or described in place with small annotations (visible when viewed with the Musescore application as ‘Lyrics’ styled text).
Most notably, I have changed the top note of the sec chord in bar 83 from G flat to A flat. This seems clear to me, both from the harmonic effect produced and for uniformity with the other sec chords in neighbouring bars. However all the performers that I have listened to disagree, and play the G flat.

I welcome comments about accuracy, layout and interpretation; and plan to revisit this piece once I have completed the rest of Iberia.
