I began this journey in Świebodzin, a quiet town in western Poland best known for one enormous landmark: the giant statue of Christ the King.
But this trip through Lubuskie quickly became about much more than one famous monument.
In this video, I explore Świebodzin’s old town, churches, market square, medieval walls, hidden corners and historic character before travelling to Łagów — a beautiful lakeside village with old defensive gates, a castle built by the Knights Hospitaller, forest paths, lake views, and one very rewarding castle tower climb.
The journey ends at the Post-Cistercian Monastery Complex in Gościkowo-Paradyż, a peaceful hidden gem with centuries of history, colourful frescoes, quiet halls, gardens, and a story still being uncovered today.
This is my first proper journey into Lubuskie — a region of Poland that is often overlooked, but full of quiet beauty, history, lakes, castles, churches and hidden details waiting to be found.
Join me as I discover Świebodzin, Łagów and Paradyż — from one of Poland’s most unusual religious monuments to one of Lubuskie’s most atmospheric castles and a monastery that still feels alive with history.
Filmed in Lubusz Voivodeship, Poland.
