July 2026: The Start With Compassion® Project - Delivering Care Packages in San Diego

Every month, my husband Freddy and I put together care packages and then drive around handing them out to people in need on the streets of San Diego. 💜 This is the Start With Compassion® Project. What started as Freddy’s idea has become something we now look forward to every month. With the help of generous donors we have been able to continue this important work for 10 months! Each care package is filled with basic necessities, including sandwiches, water, socks, a thermal blanket, hygiene products, snacks, and other items that can make someone’s day a little easier. For our July 2026 run, we once again packed up the care packages, loaded up the car, and headed out into San Diego. Every delivery reminds me of the same thing: compassion doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it’s a care package. Sometimes it’s a conversation. Sometimes it’s simply stopping long enough to notice another person. And while we know we can’t help everyone, we can help someone. That’s really what the Start With Compassion Project is about. It’s not about solving everything. It’s about doing what we can, with what we have, and encouraging other people to find their own way to show up too.
