High-Performance Bicycle Chain Formulations for Pro-Athletes

In this webinar, the speaker will provide an insight into the not so well-known world of bicycle chain lubrication. Although the bicycle drivetrain is one of the most efficient machines with efficiency of up to 97%, there are still power losses due to friction. Some of these friction losses occur in the chain/gear contact. A reduction in the friction losses using innovative lubricant formulations can be highly beneficial to pro-athletes as it could mean a few seconds lead on an opponent that can result in a podium position in competition. The benefits of an effective lube can also be experienced by the everyday keen cyclist, who would enjoy smoother rides. There are different approaches to formulating efficient lubes, however considering their application environment, consideration to the environment should be made. Thus, there is a challenge to develop environmentally friendly high-performance lube. This webinar will address the tribological challenges of the bicycle drivetrain, overview of the current state-of-the art high-performance bicycle chain lubricants, testing methodologies and the future for eco-friendly chain lubricants.
