Episode 2 of the Winter Webinar Series addresses 'Data Centres: the Coming Wave of disputes and how to prepare for them.'
Data centres are designated as part of Critical National Infrastructure, and (with AI) give rise to a continual media debate - in terms of economic growth, desirability, planning policy and issues of sustainability, for example. But rather less attention has been paid to the disputes which are already arising out of the design, procurement and construction of data centres and the legal issues which are likely to be important.
In this webinar, David Streatfeild-James KC, Zulfikar Khayum and Edmund Neuberger consider:
The new frontier - understanding where we are
"The future is already here. It is just not very evenly distributed”
(William Gibson)
What is coming next?
"It’s tough to make predictions, especially about the future” (Niels Bohr)
Lessons from other sectors and technologies
“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it”
(George Santayana)
Legal and commercial issues likely to arise in the context of Data Centre disputes
“History doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes” (Mark Twain)
