A 27-minute walk in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto, at the start of autumn, from Takaragaike Station to Yase-Hieizanguchi Station on the Eizan Railway. The route passes the Kamitakano residential area, Miyake Hachimangu, Mikage Shrine, Rurikoin, the Takano River, Yase Momiji no Komichi, and ends at Sudo Shrine. (Subtitles in Japanese, English and French.)
You’ll see golden rice fields, a forest trail, and green maples. The leaves were still green when I filmed, and the autumn colors had not yet begun.
・Mikage Shrine is an auxiliary shrine of Shimogamo Shrine, located outside its main grounds.
・The mountain path is steep, so wear comfortable shoes.
・At the time of filming, the Eizan Cable Car and Ropeway were out of service for inspection and repairs.
・The special autumn opening at Rurikoin seemed to have started. Please check the official website for dates and fees.
