how do you know GOD is real when you have never seen Him? look at your hand. the pattern on your thumb formed before you were born, and no one else has ever been known to carry the same one. you leave it on everything you touch. you have never touched Him. so tonight we dust a book. sixty-six of them, really — forty hands, fifteen centuries, three languages, and not one writer ever held the finished thing. it should read like a pile of strangers. instead it tells one story, with one figure slowly stepping out of the pages. Genesis opens with a garden, a river, a tree of life.
