Olivia Rodrigo, Feist Cover The White Stripes "We're Going to Be Friends" | Rock Hall 2025 Induction

Olivia Rodrigo and Feist perform an acoustic duet of The White Stripes' "We're Going to Be Friends" at the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Los Angeles — a tender tribute to Jack White and Meg White's legacy. The performance came immediately after Jack White's acceptance speech, which ended with him reading a poetic parable about The White Stripes' origin story that he'd written for Meg White but never gotten around to sending her. "We're Going to Be Friends" — from the band's breakthrough 2001 album White Blood Cells — was the perfect song to follow that moment: stripped down, warm, and full of the kind of simplicity that made The White Stripes matter in the first place. In a video that played before the tribute, Olivia Rodrigo described The White Stripes' music as "just what it needs to be" and said the band proved that "you don't need a lot of frills to move people." That philosophy was on full display in this performance. The White Stripes — Jack White and Meg White — formed in Detroit in 1997 and played their first gig at the Gold Dollar bar in the Cass Corridor. They were inducted by fellow Detroit legend Iggy Pop and were also honored with a cover of "Seven Nation Army" by Twenty One Pilots. Meg White was not in attendance but sent a message through Jack White, telling fans she's grateful for their support through the years.
