On the Paper Trail 2026 | My First Experience, Fountain Pens & Stationery

Steve and I traveled to Franklin, Tennessee, for the very first On the Paper Trail stationery event—a birthday trip he'd planned for me! I was especially interested in this event because it promised a smaller, more personal experience where stationery enthusiasts could spend time with vendors, explore products, and enjoy conversations without feeling rushed. Of course, things didn't go entirely as planned! Between preparing for an event with limited information, forgetting an important piece of my recording equipment, and discovering just how busy Franklin was, this trip became a learning experience of its own. In this video, I'm sharing our experience, including: Our visit to The Gentleman Stationer Exploring the first On the Paper Trail event Spending time with nib specialist Matthew Chen and having my fountain pens worked on Fountain pens, inks, stationery finds, and purchases My thoughts about the event and what I learned along the way This isn't a traditional walkthrough of every vendor table. Instead, it's a look at what we experienced, the things that caught my attention, and the moments that made this birthday trip memorable. Thank you for spending some time with me here at The Studio Desk! I'd love to hear from you in the comments: Have you attended On the Paper Trail or another stationery or fountain pen event?
