If you commute or ride regularly, you might be tempted to put a cheap mount on your handlebars and use your phone for navigation. It seems like the easiest choice until you actually try it.
In this video, I touch on how I found a dedicated device like the Beeline Velo 2 made infinitely more sense for navigating London streets. The constant vibrations from rough roads can permanently damage your phone's optical image stabilization. You also have to deal with battery drain, screen glare that makes maps unreadable in bright sunlight, and the very real risk of a sudden UK downpour.
I take the Beeline Velo 2 out on my Dutch Gazelle to show exactly how a purpose-built cycling GPS solves these problems. The minimalist interface keeps your eyes on the traffic instead of a cluttered map, the massive difference in battery life, and how a dedicated unit handles the elements without any issues.
Let me know what navigation setup you are currently using in the comments and if you’d consider getting one too!
If you want to check out Beeline, I’ll leave a link here. But as I said in the video, this isn’t sponsored: https://beeline.co/
This was shot on my DJI Osmo Pocket 4 which I’ve been enjoying for its simplicity, more on that in a video soon!
P.S. I usually always wear a helmet, but the cul de sacs for this video are very safe :)
