In the game, the player takes on the role of a character called the "Arisen", a hero marked by a dragon whom they must defeat. Dragon's Dogma 2 takes place in the lands of Vermund and Battahl, in a parallel universe from that of the original Dragon's Dogma. The tale is told of an Arisen (the player and main protagonist) and their Pawns, all woven into the politics and events of the wider world.
