Tin Soldier
Beyond the hills of silver stone
A Queen sat high upon her throne
She wore a crown of stolen gold
And ruled a thousand hearts grown cold
She dressed her men in shining steel
And taught them they must never feel
She sent them marching through the rain
To fight a war without a name
Tin soldier, standing tall
Who will catch you when you fall
Is there a heart beneath that steel
Tell me, soldier, can you feel
Your heart is iron and your hands are cold
You gave your heart for a crown of gold
Oh, soldier made of tin
You wear her crown, you bear her sin
Tin soldier
Oh, can't you see
The Queen wears gold
While the blood stains thee
She blessed his sword with holy wine
And sent him past the kingdom's shrine
She kissed his forehead, called him brave
Then sent him marching to his grave
He saw his face upon the wall
Among the portraits in her hall
A hundred men who came before
Their names forgotten evermore
Tin soldier, standing tall
Do you hear the kingdom call
Is there a heart beneath that steel
Tell me, soldier, can you feel
Your heart is iron and your hands are cold
You gave your heart for a crown of gold
Oh, soldier made of tin
You wear her crown, you bear her sin
Tin soldier
Oh, can't you see
She sits on her throne
While you bleed for the Queen
One night the Queen came down the stairs
And found him kneeling at his prayers
She said - Why pray to gods above?
Have I not earned your faithful love?
You gave me silver, gave me gold
And turned my beating heart to stone
But all the riches in your land
Can't wash the sorrow from my hands
How many wars must I endure
Before your golden crown is pure
OH, QUEEN OF GOLD! OH, QUEEN OF SIN!
I AM YOUR SOLDIER MADE OF TIN!
Your heart is iron and your hands are cold
You gave your heart for a crown of gold
Oh, soldier made of tin
You wear her crown, you bear her sin
Tin soldier, don't you see
She sits on the throne, while you bleed for the Queen
Tin soldier, standing tall
Who will catch you when you fall
You've got a heart beneath that steel
Tell me soldier, can you feel
