Truths and Myths about Intercultural Competence and Communication

What is intercultural competence and how can you effective communicate across cultures? Does being interculturally competent mean that you know a lot of languages or that you've traveled all over the world? How does our understanding of "culture" need to be updated in an age of globalization and global migrations? I answer these questions and more in this presentation, originally presented at Ohio TESOL 2019 in Columbus, Ohio.
