Dr. Ijaz Bashir is a pioneering physician, social entrepreneur, and community reformer whose work has transformed thousands of lives in Pakistan. A graduate of Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore (M.B.B.S, 1988), he has blended medical expertise with grassroots activism, earning national recognition for his contributions to healthcare, vocational training, and social welfare.
In 1991, Dr. Bashir founded the Decent Welfare Society, setting the stage for decades of community-driven change. In 1994, he established Bashir Hospital, Gujra, and the Vocational Training Institute, Gujrat, in 1996—institutions that continue to serve the public with distinction.
His most groundbreaking achievement is the creation of Cleft Hospital Gujrat in 2011—the only hospital of its kind in Pakistan. Operated under the banner of the Pakistan Cleft Lip and Palate Association (PCLAPA), which he founded in 2000, this state-of-the-art facility provides free surgeries and comprehensive care to children born with cleft lips and palates. Cleft Hospital is a unique model of compassion and specialized medical service, offering hope to families who would otherwise remain untreated.
Dr. Bashir's humanitarian vision doesn't stop there. In 2014, he launched the Ayesha Bashir Trust to expand charitable services in health and education.
He is also active in governance and youth development:
Member, Board of Governors, University of Gujrat
Trustee, Pakistan Youth Hostels Association, Islamabad
President, District Board of Management, Punjab Vocational Training Council
Director, Decent Furnishers (Pvt) Ltd.
Dr. Bashir has previously served in key roles with the Pakistan Red Crescent Society, District Zakat and Usher Committee Gujrat, and various provincial welfare boards.
From healing children to empowering communities, Dr. Ijaz Bashir stands out as a force for good—proving that one individual can build institutions that change the course of countless lives.
