The 7th Pang Lhabsol Riders’ Meet was a marquee highlight of the 2026 Pang Lhabsol Festival, an eight-day celebration running from August 21 to 28 in the historic town of Yuksom, the former capital of Sikkim.
Organized by the Kangchenjunga Motorcycle Club (KMC), the meet blended modern adventure with deep-rooted tradition. On August 21, a convoy of riders set off from the sacred Pemayangtse Monastery in Pelling, undertaking a scenic journey to Yuksom. The event invited motorcycle enthusiasts from across the state to participate, celebrating both brotherhood on the road and reverence for the region’s heritage.
The ride is deeply contextualized within the broader Pang Lhabsol festival, which honors Mount Kangchenjunga as the guardian deity of Sikkim. Beyond the motorcycle rally, the 2026 Yuksom celebrations featured:
· Sacred rituals like the "Riwosang" offering and the iconic "Pangtoed Chaam" warrior dance.
· Pilgrimage treks through the Kangchenjunga National Park (a UNESCO World Heritage site) to Dzongri.
· Cultural programs, including traditional performances.
In essence, the 7th Riders’ Meet was not merely a biking expedition, it was a vibrant tribute to Sikkimese identity, using the spirit of the open road to reconnect with the state’s sacred mountain, history, and unity.
