“The future of Nigerian education needs to move from simply imparting knowledge to building the skills needed to solve real-world challenges.”
In a conversation on Frontiers on NTA, the Vice-Chancellor of Nile University of Nigeria, Prof. Dilli Dogo FNAMed, DFMC shared his perspective on the future of education in Nigeria and the need to rethink how students are prepared to address the challenges facing the nation.
He emphasised that theoretical knowledge alone is no longer enough. As challenges become more complex, education must place greater emphasis on practical skills, hands-on experience and the ability to develop solutions that respond to real needs.
He also highlighted the importance of stronger partnerships between universities and the private sector in bridging the gap between classroom learning and industry demands. By equipping students with the skills to operate technology, drive innovation and harness local resources, Nigeria can build the capacity to solve more of its own problems.
At Nile University of Nigeria, we recognise that preparing students for the future requires education to evolve continuously. Through a curriculum that integrates theory, practical knowledge and skills acquisition, alongside opportunities for industry collaboration, we remain committed to preparing graduates who can translate knowledge into meaningful solutions for Nigeria and beyond.
