Other Ethiopic texts also preserve detailed accounts of the betrayal of Jesus, including Judas’s role during the Last Supper and the events leading to the Passion. But these texts raise a fascinating question: Did the Ethiopian tradition preserve an older interpretation of Judas that disappeared from mainstream Christian storytelling?
