Built between 1883 and 1885 by industrialist Alexander “Boss” Gibson, the mill became the centre of a planned industrial community and was once among the largest cotton mills in Canada. Today, the mill and much of the surrounding neighbourhood form the Marysville Historic District National Historic Site.
