Ask anyone what's wrong with India and you get the same five answers. Corruption. Women aren't safe. Billionaires own the politicians. Caste. All of them true and all of them symptoms. This video is about the thing underneath. About 5,700 people you've never heard of, who run every district in this country, who are handed that power in their mid-twenties with no experience of the real world, and who answer to almost nobody. And about what I think we should actually do instead. I'm not claiming to have this figured out. This is a thought experiment. If you think I'm wrong, the comments are the point of this channel. I like to chat and reply SOME OF THE NUMBERS IN THIS VIDEO 5,755 serving IAS officers against a sanctioned strength of ~6,800 (DoPT Civil List) ~180 IAS seats a year against over a million applicants Corruption complaints against IAS officers: 581, 643 and 753 in single years (Lok Sabha replies, Ministry of Personnel) IAS officers dismissed for corruption across one five-year window: 2 7,229 corruption cases pending trial under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 400+ of them pending over 20 years (CVC Annual Report) 442 IAS officers posted at the Centre against a required 1,469 (DoPT, 2023-24) Section 17-A, Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act 2018 — prior government approval required before investigating a public servant Comparisons referenced: Chile's senior public management selection system, New Zealand's fixed-term chief executive contracts, Singapore's public sector pay benchmarking. Sources are all public government records and published reports. If I've got a number wrong, tell me and I'll pin the correction.
