A fine example of the independent-label vocal-group sound flourishing around New York in the late 1950s, this pairing was issued in April 1958 on Pet 801, with “The Loudness of My Heart” backed by “Angel.” Both songs are credited to Garris and Carter. With Buddy Lucas Orchestra. Very little reliable biographical information about the Gay Knights appears to have survived, making the record itself an important trace of the many local vocal groups that recorded briefly for small labels during the era. Transferred from an original 45 rpm in my collection.
