I flew the BlueBird 757 before release in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This pre-release review follows the Rolls-Royce RB211 version from Edinburgh (EGPH) to Keflavík (BIKF), with a thunderstorm landing challenge after the normal flight.
A quick note about the visuals: All aircraft footage in this review was captured directly from Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, right after Sim Update 7. No post-processing or DLSS 5 was used. I wanted you to see just how incredible this airplane looks in the simulator, without any additional visual enhancements.
After following this project for about four years and trying it at FlightSimExpo 2025, I finally have the BlueBird Simulations Boeing 757 in my own cockpit. I’m genuinely honoured to be one of the creators trusted to beta test and feature it before launch. A huge thank you to BlueBird for the opportunity.
We start cold and dark and work through the flight preparation, engine starts, taxi, takeoff, cruise and arrival into Iceland. Along the way, I share my first impressions of the flight model, ground handling, systems depth, visuals and performance in my setup.
There’s plenty to explore in the cockpit, including the CRT displays, circuit breakers, EFB live systems diagrams, ACARS, SimBrief integration, performance uplinks, FMC, LNAV and VNAV. I also give you time to hear the Rolls-Royce engines and Boris Audio Works’ sound package from inside and outside the aircraft.
After the normal flight, we do what we do after every livestream: reload the approach and make the weather much worse. This time, it’s a separate Keflavík landing attempt with thunderstorms, strong winds, heavy rain and low visibility, with the autopilot and autothrottle off.
I also discuss BlueBird’s new WINGFLEX hardware partnership and the dedicated 757/767 cockpit panels planned for 2027.
For me, this is the best aircraft add-on of 2026, hands down. I’m enjoying the systems depth, the flight model and even how it feels to taxi. The interior and exterior look fantastic, and performance has been smooth and fluid on my setup. It’s such a joy to fly.
BETA AND TESTING CONTEXT
These are my personal first impressions of a pre-release beta, not a final assessment of every system. Features, visuals and performance may change before release. This footage was recorded in MSFS 2024 after installing Sim Update 7, and my performance observations apply to my own setup.
I’m not a Boeing 757 pilot. My handling impressions come from my experience in Level D full-flight simulators, alongside my own real-world flying. The thunderstorm approach is a separate simulator challenge, not real-world operational guidance.
Would you choose the Rolls-Royce or Pratt & Whitney version, and where would you fly the 757 first? Let me know in the comments.
