Scene 1 – The Righteousness of Job Job 1:1-5 Scene 2 – Divine Assembly Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God (angels) came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them. God has called a Council of angels to appear before him? does this happen regularly? How did Satan, the fallen angel get in the midst? Yet here he is. One thing is certain. He is only there by God’s permission. Don’t ever forget Satan’s primary goal and purpose is to destroy you. 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Corinthians 10:13 – (NLT). The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. Satan has two primary weapons: pleasure and pain. Pleasure – to get you to dismiss your need for God. Pain – to get you disillusioned with God 7 And the Lord said to Satan, “From where do you come?” So Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.” 8 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?” 9 So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11 But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!” 12 And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord. Scene 3 – Job’s Massive Loss Job 1:13-19 Job’s Response Job 1:20-22 God has used Ike greatly over the years to be a tremendous encourager to thousands of people. And he has taught me something we see in Job: Those Whom God Uses Greatly, He always breaks Deeply. So in the story, remember God is forming in you the ability to help others. Live your story now the way you want to tell it later without having to change a thing. James 1:2-4 James 5:11 Lamentations 3:22-23 Isaiah 55:8-9 The great question of Job 1: When trouble comes and you lose everything you HAVE, will you still worship God? Job’s answer? Yes! Round 1 complete: winner : Job The great question of Job 2: When trouble comes and you lose everything you ARE, will you still worship God? Scene 4 – Another Divine Assembly 2:1-6 Scene 5 – Satan strikes again 2:7-10 The great question of Job 1: When trouble comes and you lose everything you HAVE, will you still worship God? The great question of Job 2: When trouble comes and you lose everything you ARE, will you still worship God? Scene 6 – Job’s Three Friends Arrive 2:11-13 So what? Suffering serves a purpose Suffering is not always related to how good or how bad you have been When suffering comes – we have a choice to get better or become bitter When suffering comes – we must decide: will we bless the Lord, or curse Him? Your suffering is not a surprise to God No matter what, God is in control No matter when, God is not surprised No matter where, God is always there Proverbs 3:5-6 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
