I Lent My Boat to a New Rice Mill | Life on the Mekong

Today, I lend my boat to a newly built rice mill in the Mekong Delta, helping workers install conveyor systems, pumps, motors, and other heavy equipment. I share a look at how fresh rice is transported to drying kilns, how large storage bins work, and how a modern rice mill is gradually being completed. Along the way, I visit Cai Be Market at dawn, where local people start their day with exercise, coffee, and breakfast. After the work is finished, my husband and I continue our journey to pick up rice. We must carefully pass under a low bridge before meeting an old friend on the river. We stop for a friendly visit, watch the children swim with their beloved dog, and enjoy a simple evening together.
