The true story behind Netflix's Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, told from the trial record. The Lizzie Borden story from start to finish: on August 4, 1892, Andrew and Abby Borden were killed inside their home in Fall River, Massachusetts, and ten months later a jury set Lizzie Borden free after a little over an hour. This Lizzie Borden documentary covers Andrew Borden, Abby Borden, Emma Borden, the maid Bridget Sullivan, John Morse, Alice Russell, the barn alibi, the burned dress, the missing note and the 1893 trial in New Bedford. The skipping rhyme says she did it. A jury said she didn't. But that jury never heard two pieces of evidence: Lizzie's own changing story under oath, and the poison she was said to have tried to buy the day before. This historical true crime documentary follows the whole Lizzie Borden case: 92 Second Street, Fall River's cotton mills, the Union Savings Bank, Lizzie's stepmother Abby Durfee Gray, the Ferry Street house, the July quarrel, the household sickness and Dr. Bowen, the hottest day of the summer, the guest room, the jammed front door, the laugh at the top of the stairs, the note from a sick friend, the barn loft and the fishing sinkers, Assistant Marshal John Fleet, "she is not my mother", City Marshal Rufus Hilliard, the hatchet head in the cellar, the $5,000 reward, the slop pail and the sink, the mayor's visit, the dress in the stove, the inquest and the morphine, Taunton jail, Judge Blaisdell, the grand jury, Hosea Knowlton, William Moody, Governor George Robinson, Judge Justin Dewey, Bertha Manchester, Hyman Lubinsky the ice cream seller, Eli Bence and the prussic acid, the verdict, Maplecroft, Lizbeth Borden, Nance O'Neil, Oak Grove Cemetery, the other suspects and the Lizzie Borden House today.
