I've always thought FromSoftware's PvP was a fun novelty stapled onto games that were fundamentally designed around PvE.
Invasions are incredibly memorable, but they're also inherently uneven. Elden Ring's arena gave us a more traditional way to fight, but the enormous RPG sandbox brought its own problems with balance, broken interactions, weird hitboxes, and mechanics that can make fights more frustrating than fun.
So I'm curious about The Duskbloods. This is the first FromSoftware game where PvP and PvPvE aren't just side features—they're the foundation of the experience. With more defined characters and a much more controlled design space, maybe FromSoft can finally make PvP that is broken in the fun way.
While I talk about that, enjoy a Nightreign run on Wylder featuring the Sentient Pest Invasion, the Mountaintop event, and a victory over Heolstor on Day 3.
What do you think? Is Duskbloods finally going to crack FromSoft PvP?
FromSoftware PvP has always felt like a side feature, but The Duskbloods might finally change that for good.
I have always thought combat in these titles was designed for PvE, leaving invasions feeling uneven and frustrating. While games like Elden Ring added arenas, the massive sandbox often leads to broken interactions and weird hitboxes that hurt the experience. I am curious if a more controlled design space can fix these issues.
This is where The Duskbloods comes in. It is the first title where player combat is the foundation of the design. During this Nightreign gameplay, I test out these PvP mechanics while running through Wylder, handling the Sentient Pest Invasion, and taking down Heolstor on Day 3. I want to see if this tighter control actually creates fun, balanced RPG combat compared to the chaos we are used to.
What do you think? Is this the shift we need for better fighting, or will it fall into the same traps? Let me know in the comments.
