Come with me on a nostalgic tour of London aboard a historic red double-decker bus route 78 that will take us through the vibrant streets of London, capturing the colourful and lively spirit of the city. We start our journey on Barset Road in Nunhead and continue through the charming neighbourhoods of Peckham and Bermondsey. The sun is shining down on us as we head towards the iconic Tower Bridge. Our final stop is at the grand Liverpool Street Station, where we'll bid farewell to the historic 78 bus. It's important to note that London buses no longer accept cash, so take your Oyster Card or a contactless payment card with you for the journey. With a total of 34 stops and covering approximately 10 km, the journey takes about 52 minutes, making it a fantastic method of transport for those looking to explore the city and all it has to offer. So come with me on this exciting virtual journey through London and experience the city's unique charm from the comfort of London bus. 00:00 Nunhead Green 00:08 Peckham Rye station London Overground National Rail 35:00 Tower Bridge 46:00 Tower of London (on the left side hand) 58:32 Tower Gateway station Docklands Light Railway 55:45 Liverpool Street station - London Underground Elizabeth line London Overground National Rail Please note: The first stop of the 78 bus route is St Mary's Road (NZ) in Nunhead and the last stop is Curtain Road (ZA). in Shoreditch. If you're planning to ride the iconic red double-decker buses in London, it's important to know that cash is not accepted. You'll need to have an Oyster card, Travelcard, or contactless payment card to pay for your ride. One of the best things about riding the bus in London is that you can transfer to other buses or trams for free and as many times as you need to within an hour of touching in for your first journey. This means that you can easily explore different parts of the city without worrying about the cost of transportation. Finally, it's common for Londoners to show their appreciation to the bus driver when alighting from a bus. A simple “thank you driver.” To use a London Bus properly, follow these guidelines: 1. Plan your route: Find out which bus route you need to take to reach your destination by using Transport for London's website or mobile app. 2. Wait at the Bus Stop: Wait at the designated bus stop for your bus to arrive. Make sure you are standing in the right place with the bus number and route displayed on the signs. 3. Board the bus: Once the bus arrives, enter through the front door and touch in with your Oyster Card, contactless payment method. London buses are card only, so you cannot buy a ticket with cash. Use a Visitor Oyster card*, an Oyster card, a Travelcard or a contactless payment card to pay your fare. 4. Find a seat or stand: Look for a seat or a standing space and avoid taking priority seats that are reserved for elderly, pregnant, or disabled passengers. Do not put feet on the seats otherwise damage the bus. 5. Respect others: Be mindful of other passengers by not playing music loudly, eating or drinking, except for water, on the bus, or talking loudly on your phone. 6. Signal for your stop: When approaching your stop, press the bell or pull the cord to signal the driver to stop. 7. Exit the bus: Leave the bus through the middle or back doors and watch out for other pedestrians. 8. Dispose of your rubbish: Make sure to dispose of any rubbish you may have before leaving the bus. By following these steps, you can use London buses properly while ensuring a comfortable and safe ride for yourself and other passengers.
