Max is stunned at sight of Gabrielle, and more so at news that she is the new Mrs. Asa Buchanan. He accuses her of marrying Asa to get at him, and Gabrielle reminds him of his inattention to her and Al. When Al arrives, Max is excited until the young man shuns him in favor of Asa, his new legal father.
