NAPT | A Self-Sustaining Craft Village | Warraq Island, Egypt ARCHITECTURE, EXPLAINED. PROJECT 001 — NAPT Project: NAPT — A Self-Sustaining Craft Village Location: Warraq Island, Egypt Year: 2025 Type: Conceptual Architectural Proposal Architects: Islam Ahmed × Rowaida Gamal Visualization & Presentation Support: Youssef Ghaith, Hind Awad — NAPT is a conceptual architectural proposal for a self-sustaining craft village on Warraq Island, exploring how architecture can respond to the existing life, resources, activities, and identity of a local community. The project started by studying the everyday life of Warraq Island — agriculture, livestock, fishing, local crafts, water, waste, and energy — and exploring how these existing activities could be connected within one integrated productive ecosystem. In this full project film, we take you through the complete architectural design process — from understanding the context, defining the problem, and research, to system thinking, zoning, master planning, form development, environmental strategies, and architectural details. The project explores a transition: FROM CONSUMPTION TO PRODUCTION where architecture becomes a framework connecting people, place, production, resources, and culture. ARCHITECTURE, EXPLAINED. is a series by Islam Ahmed exploring the thinking, research, and design decisions behind architecture — beyond the final image.
