The Black Within | I Sold My Soul for Fame. This Was the Result.

What would you give up to become a superstar? For Laila Rose, the answer was apparently her soul. The Black Within is a short psychological horror game about a failed musician who makes a deal with the devil in exchange for fame and fortune. Unfortunately, getting what you want turns out to involve a lot more than signing a contract. The Black Within is a fairly simple walking-simulator-style horror game with puzzles, exploration, and plenty of jumpscares — which I think I'm slowly becoming immune to. It isn't exactly the deepest psychological horror experience I've played, but it's not a bad game and, considering this was the developer's first project, I think it deserves some credit. So, what is the moral of the story? Maybe it's this: if you have one big dream, is it really worth giving everything else up for it? Or, you know… Don't make deals with the devil.
