Hike / Trek Notes: Since my first hike from Refugio Peru to Laguna 69 back in September 2022 I wanted to visit Laguna Brogui and the Demanda Lagunas. They are clearly visible from above on the other side of the valley while hiking down to Laguna 69 from Refugio Peru. They are relatively small in size, but they are in a beautiful setting and the landscape surrounding them looks wild and interesting. I knew there was a use trail climbing up from the main trail connecting Cebollapampa to Laguna 69 which can be hiked to visit the Lagunas Demanda. Laguna Brogui can be visited through a short cross-country route off the use trail. I decided to camp at Laguna Brogui after my descent to Laguna 69 from Refugio Peru. The following day I hiked to the Demandas and hiked out to Cebollapampa through the high trail. The visit of both Laguna Brogui and Demanda was absolutely worth it. Beautiful Cordillera Blanca landscape. The high trail from Lagunas Demanda to Cebollapampa was not as easy as it appears to be. It is rarely used and it often peters out to a cross-country route, particularly before reaching the small green Laguna that is visible on the map by the last drainage which need to be crossed before meeting the main trail to Cebollapampa. This latest part of the route is mostly cross-country before reaching the small Laguna and it is fairly sketchy in a couple of spots. Route finding can be time consuming and a bit puzzling and the effort was not worth it in my opinion. It would probably be best to re-descent from the Lagunas Demanda back to the main trail from the easy use trail climbing along Laguna Brogui. That being said, the hike to the lagunas and the camping night was absolutely worth it. Only a couple of miles away from the Laguna 69 main trail, but it felt much far away from the crowded trail below.
