BBC Radio 3 celebrates its 70th anniversary - a look back at its history

Radio 3 was actually born in 1967, which makes it not yet 50. But it’s descended from the Third Programme, which started in 1946. It was an initiative launched alongside the NHS, promoting access to art and culture for everyone.
