Malachi Toney: Miami's Top Target

Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney is off to an historic start for the Hurricanes and has fans thinking about seeing two representatives at the Heisman ceremony in December along with quarterback Darian Mensah. The 18-year old wide receiver broke Miami's single-game receiving yards mark with a 12-catch, 234-yard outing in the first game of the season against Stanford and tied the single-game touchdowns mark with 3 scores in the same game. Toney racked up 96 yards with a touchdown on just 4 catches against Florida A&M and then put up another 12 grabs for 114 yards and another score in the win over Wake Forest. Since the beginning of last season, Toney is the only player in the country to record more than 110 catches and 1,400 yards in regular season games alone. Before Toney there had only been 11 instances of more than 10 catches in a single game in Hurricanes' history. Toney topped the 10-catch plateau 4 times in his short 19-game career, including twice so far this season.
