LYRICS
Yeah…
Some days I don’t know who I am anymore.
I keep on driving, searching for something
I can’t seem to find.
I’m lost inside my own damn mind,
Trying to leave my troubles behind.
I wake up every morning, put a smile upon my face,
But deep inside I’m drowning, and I’m losing this race.
The boys come around when they’re feeling low,
They ask me for advice, and I tell them where to go.
I’d move the world for every mate I’ve ever known,
But when the night comes calling, I’m fighting on my own.
So I drive up to the mountains, where the cold wind calls my name,
With a head full of bad memories and a heart full of pain.
I try to wash away the hurt, let the whiskey ease my mind,
But no matter where I drive, my demons follow close behind.
I’m tired of being strong, boys, tired of saying I’m alright,
There’s a war inside my head that keeps me awake at night.
But I’ve got mates who look up to me, and I can’t just disappear,
So I’ll keep on fighting through the darkness, while I’ve still got people here.
That bottle’s getting heavier, it’s becoming hard to stop,
I keep on pouring out the pain, but the pain just doesn’t drop.
I dream of sitting on a mountain, watching daylight disappear,
Trying to drown out all the noise that I don’t want to hear.
I take my four-wheel drive out bush, let the tyres tear the ground,
Find a track that leads to nowhere, leave the world without a sound.
For a little while I’m breathing, and the weight begins to lift,
But the silence doesn’t last too long, and my mind begins to drift.
I wonder if my mates would know how hard I’ve tried to cope,
If they’d see the man behind the smile, still hanging on to hope.
I’ve spent so long being their rock, never showing when I break,
Maybe it’s time I let them see the pain I’ve tried to hide away.
If you’re listening, my brothers, know I’m trying every day,
Some nights I feel like giving up, some nights I lose my way.
But I don’t have to be a hero, I don’t have to hide the scars,
And maybe I can find some peace without drowning in the dark.
I’ll put one foot in front of the other, take it day by day,
Let someone stand beside me when I haven’t got the words to say.
I’ve spent my life looking out for everyone I hold so dear,
Now I’ve got to learn that it’s alright to let somebody near.
I’ll still drive up to the mountains when the world gets hard to face,
Find some peace among the gum trees, let the wind blow through this place.
I’ll fight to put that bottle down, find a better way to heal,
And remind myself that even broken hearts can learn to feel.
I’m tired of being strong, boys, but I’m still here tonight,
Still fighting through the shadows, still searching for the light.
I’ve got mates who look up to me, but now I understand,
I don’t have to fight alone, I can reach out for a hand.
The mountain knows my secrets,
The bush has heard my cries.
I’ve been lost inside my own damn head,
Beneath these endless skies.
I’m still hurting, still searching,
But there’s more road left to roam.
And maybe with a little help, boys,
I’ll find my way back home.
Yeah… I’ll find my way back home.
