This joyful romp is based upon the familiar fourteenth century melody "Angelus ad Virginem" and is composed by Stephen Barber. Sad to say, this recording is recorded from the speakers rather than using line in, hence there is some console noise captured alongside the music. The text tells the Annunciation story, and was also famously used by Sir Michael Tippett as part of his "Birthday Suite for Prince Charles", one of the performer's set works at "O" level, thousands of years ago! It is published in Volume 4 of Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh by Church Organ World and can be purchased here:

This recording was made on a Johannus Live III AGO organ, using the sample of the fine Hill organ in the church of the Holy Name, opposite the University of Manchester on Oxford Road, Manchester (the organ case is pictured at the beginning and end of the video). The sample sets can be heard from four positions: console, front of the church, centre of the church, rear of the church. This recording uses the rear of the church position, affording the most generous recording of the wonderful acoustic in this fine building.
